TRJ SCT M29

It’s a Good Day on the Charles River

John and Gina came and visited and made me great get well cards.
John made a prayer on the front of his card.

“May the blood counts rise in the strength of your Loving family” John 39:99

I was a mess with red welts and swelling after the hive reaction to the second
platelet transfusion. I was given Benadryl to stop the reaction. When the
reaction subsided my doctor tried a third attempt at 7:45 p.m. This time
they used washed platelets. My girlfriend Gail came in and stayed with
me through the transfusion. I seemed to have no reaction. Then after Gail
left, I found red hives all on my legs only, so they stopped the transfusion.
They checked my platelet count and it was only 13K and they were looking
for at least 20K. So around midnight we attempted a fourth platelet transfusion
with washed platelets. All went well. My nurse, Elizabeth and I recited
John’s prayer before she took the blood samples to the lab.
Results today my platelets were at 22K!!!

John’s prayer worked.
